Transcript and captions
Transcribed on your Mac. Cut by deleting words.
Transcribe
Open Captions and let Dolly transcribe your recording. It uses your Mac's on-device speech recognition, so nothing is uploaded. The first time, macOS asks for Speech Recognition permission.
Edit by transcript
Open the Transcript tab: your words sit next to the preview and light up as the video plays. Click a word to jump there. Select words and press ⌫ to cut them; the timeline closes up. Cut words and pauses stay visible, struck through, and come back with a click and Enter.
Remove ums and long pauses
One button at the top of the Transcript tab cuts um, uh, ehm and “you know”, and shortens pauses longer than 0.7 seconds to a breath. Moments where you click or type are kept. ⌘Z brings everything back.
Title, summary and chapters
Captions › Title & chapters › Suggest title & chapters writes a title, a one- or two-sentence summary and chapters like 0:00 Intro from what you said. It runs on your Mac: with Apple Intelligence where your Mac has it, and otherwise with Dolly's own rules (chapters at long pauses, new takes and title cards). Edit everything in place. A Dolly link gets the same title and chapters.
Captions
Turn captions on, pick a style, and they are burned into your export. You can also save them as an .srt file for YouTube or your course platform, and translate them on your Mac.
Your script as captions
Recorded with the teleprompter? Use script for captions puts your script's exact words on the timing of what you said.
Find it later
Search in Dolly Home looks in what was said, the suggested title and chapters, your script and your title cards, so you can find a recording by a word you remember.
