Dolly Workspace
Your team's Dolly links in one library, and an AI key to use them.
What it is
A workspace is your team's library of Dolly links: in Dolly under Workspace in the sidebar, and on getdolly.app/workspace for people without a Mac. Everyone in it sees the videos with who added them, when, their views and comments. They search by title, description or what was said, filter by folder and person, and comment at a moment in the video. An AI with a workspace key can find and use the same videos. People only need a browser to watch; videos are made in Dolly on a Mac.
How sharing works
Three things, from widest to narrowest. Each is one choice:
- A Dolly link: anyone with it can watch.Get link (⇧⌘L) puts it on your clipboard. Viewers need no account. Dolly links
- In the workspace: your team finds it.Add the link to the workspace and everyone in it sees it in the library, with views and comments. The link keeps working for everyone else.
- Only members can watch.Switch it per video. The link's page then asks viewers to sign in, and only members can play it.
Make a workspace
In Dolly, click Workspace in the sidebar and type your team's name, or open getdolly.app/workspace and sign in with your Dolly account (a code by email). Name your workspace and you're its owner. Making a workspace is part of Dolly Cloud, in Pro; people you invite join free. Make folders in the sidebar, with an emoji if you like.
Add videos
From Dolly: after Get link, open the link's menu (the arrow on the Get link button, or ⋯ on a video in Shared links) and choose Add to your workspace. To skip that step, switch on Also add to your workspace under Link options: every new link then goes into the library, in the folder you used last. Or click Add Video on the Workspace page.
On the web: click Add videos and pick from your Dolly links: the ones you made with Get link while signed in. Choose a folder and who can watch. You can only add your own links. Removing a video from the workspace keeps its link working.
Who can watch
Per video: Anyone with the link, like every Dolly link, or Only your workspace. Then the watch page asks viewers to open it in the workspace, and only signed-in members can play it.
Invite people
Under Members, pick a role and click Make invite link. Anyone with the link signs in (or makes a free account) and joins. Links work for 14 days and can be revoked.
- Owner: one per workspace; billing and deleting the workspace.
- Admin: invites people, changes roles, makes and revokes AI keys.
- Member: adds videos, comments, makes folders and AI keys.
- Viewer: watches and comments.
Admins can also let anyone with your company's email domain join by themselves: switch on Join by email domain under Members. Public addresses like gmail.com can't be used for it.
Comments and activity
Open a video to play it, with its comments next to it. Your comment is tied to the moment you paused at. Activity lists new videos, comments, people who joined and when an AI used the workspace.
Notifications
While Dolly runs, it checks your workspaces every few minutes. When a teammate adds a video, comments or joins, you get a Mac notification; click it for the workspace's Activity. Workspace in the sidebar shows how many things are new until you open it. Switch notifications off in Settings › Account › Workspace notifications. Dolly never emails you about it. Comments on your own links have their own notification, as before.
Coming from Loom
- My LibraryShared links in Dolly: every link you made, with insights.
- Workspace library, SpacesWorkspace › Library, with folders (one level).
- Share: anyone or workspace onlyWho can watch, per video.
- Comments, notificationsComments at a moment; Mac notifications.
- Invite by emailInvite links with a role, or join by company email domain.
AI access
A workspace AI key lets any AI find and use your team's videos, from anywhere. No Mac and no Dolly app are needed; the AI you already use does the work. Under AI access, give the key a label (like Claude Code (Ben)), choose Read or Read and write, and click Make key. The key is shown once, with exactly what to paste. Only its fingerprint is stored. Each key shows when it was last used; Revoke cuts it off at once.
This is different from Connect your AI, which lets an AI use Dolly itself on your Mac to record, edit and export.
Claude Code
Paste the command from AI access in Terminal:
claude mcp add --transport http dolly-acme https://link.getdolly.app/mcp/ws \
--header "Authorization: Bearer dws_…"Then start claude in your project and ask, for example: “Put the newest video from the Marketing folder on our homepage.” It finds the video, downloads the MP4 into your repo and writes the video tag.
claude.ai, ChatGPT and Cursor
These take a URL with the key in it: https://link.getdolly.app/mcp/ws/dws_…. In claude.ai, add it as a custom connector (Customize › Connectors › + › Add custom connector). In ChatGPT, add it as a custom MCP server. In Cursor, add it to ~/.cursor/mcp.json:
{"mcpServers": {"dolly-acme": {"url": "https://link.getdolly.app/mcp/ws/dws_…"}}}Treat the URL like a password: anyone with it can read the workspace.
What an AI can do
- list_videosFind videos by words, folder, person or date.
- get_videoTitle, length, embed code, a download link and the transcript.
- get_transcriptWhat was said, with timestamps.
- download_videoThe MP4, with a ready
curlline, so a coding agent can drop it into a repo. - list_folders, list_members, recent_activityHow the workspace is organised, who's in it, and what's new.
- add_comment, move_videoComment (marked as AI) and file a video in a folder. Read and write keys only.
No key can delete videos, invite people or see another workspace.
Plans
Workspaces and AI keys are part of Dolly Cloud, included in Pro: make a workspace, add videos and make AI keys. On Free you can join when invited, watch and comment. Dolly Team (Dolly Cloud for teams, €11.99 per user a month, from 3 users, coming soon): unlimited people and workspaces.
