Interactive demos

A clickable step-by-step demo, made from your recording.

What it is

Export › Interactive demo turns a recording you already made into a clickable guide, like Arcade or Supademo. Viewers go through it step by step, at their own pace, by clicking where you clicked. Nothing to record again.

How Dolly finds the steps

One step per click and per burst of typing, found the way auto zoom finds your actions. A double click counts once; clicks in the menu bar or the Dock, drags and lone shortcuts are not steps. A last step shows the result.

Each step

A sharp still of your finished video at that moment, with your background, frame, cursor and zoom, and a pulsing hotspot exactly where you clicked. The caption is what you said just before or while doing it, from the transcript made on your Mac. Didn't say anything? It reads Click here until you type your own.

Edit the steps

The pane lists every step. Click one to see it large, type its caption, drag its dot, reorder with the arrows or by dragging, or delete it; ⌘Z undoes. The title, Made with Dolly and Start over sit under More. The steps belong to the project, so they survive cuts and reordering.

Save or share

Save demo… writes a folder with an index.html and its pictures. It opens offline in any browser, and you can put it on any web host. Get demo link uploads it to Dolly links and copies the link, just like Get link; it counts as one of your Dolly links. A demo link can be embedded in another page.

What viewers see

A start card, then each step with a pulsing hotspot in Dolly blue and the caption in a glass card beside it (under the picture on phones). They click the hotspot or use ← →, Space, Enter, Home and End, or swipe. A click next to the hotspot gives a gentle nudge. Adding #3 to the address opens step 3. Light and dark follow the viewer's system, with a button to switch. The page holds only your pictures and text.

Plans

Interactive demos work on every plan. On Free, a demo shows a small Made with Dolly link; with Lifetime or Pro you can switch it off.

With your AI

Dolly Agent can make one too: dolly_export with format demo saves the folder, or demo_link gets a link, and dolly_edit op demo sets the title, captions and steps.
