Record

Teleprompter

A script under your camera that only you see.

Open the script

Choose More (⋯) → Script in the recording bar, or press ⇧⌘1. A small glass card appears at the top centre of your screen, right under the built-in camera, so you look close to the lens while you read. Paste or type what you want to say.

While you record

The text scrolls by itself at the speed you set, from 60 to 260 words per minute (140 to start). It waits during the countdown, holds when you pause, and starts at the top on every new take. Nudge it with ↑ ↓ or the trackpad. Try plays the speed before you record.

Only you see it

The card is one of Dolly's own windows, and Dolly leaves its own windows out of every recording. It never appears in your video.

Size and theme

Make the text bigger or smaller, and pick dark or light (it follows your Mac until you choose). The line you're reading is full strength with a blue marker. Dolly remembers your last script, speed, size and position.

From script to captions

The script is saved with the project. In the editor, Captions › Use script for captions puts your exact words on the timing of what you said, so names and punctuation come out as written. Without a transcript, Use my script instead spreads it over the video.
