The timeline
Cut, trim, reorder and speed up.
Clips
Press S to split at the playhead and Delete to remove a clip; the gap closes itself. Drag a clip's edges to trim it (it snaps to the playhead and to other clips), or press Q and W to trim a clip's start or end to the playhead. To move a clip, click it first and then drag it, or hold ⌥ while dragging.
Cut a middle part
Drag across the clips to select a stretch of the video; it snaps to the playhead and clip edges and shows its length. Press ⌫ (or Cut on the chip) and the rest closes up, across clips and speeds. At the playhead, I marks the start and O the end. ⌘Z brings it back; Esc drops the selection. Zooms, blurs, text and drawings stay on their picture.
Speed
Select a clip and pick a speed in one click: 0.5× and 0.75× slow motion, 1× to 3×, and 4× to 24× fast-forward. Voices keep their pitch; above 4× the sound is muted.
Auto edit
Auto edit tidies a whole take in one go: it cuts the pauses, speeds up long typing and sets the zooms, then tells you what it did (for example 2:28 → 1:16 · 7 cuts). ⌘Z undoes it. It runs on your Mac and is included on every plan, Free too.
Silences and typing
Find silences & typing finds the dead air and the long typing stretches. Cut the silences or play them at 4×, and play typing at 3×.
Per clip
Each clip has its own volume, fade in and out, mute, and a switch to hide the cursor.
Playback
Space plays and pauses. J K L play backwards, pause and forwards. ⌘-scroll zooms the timeline. Everything is undoable with ⌘Z, and your original recording is never changed.
